At the conference we hope to present more information on the status of the various Ka Band systems that are now completing the design phase and starting fabrication, along with an update on the user terminals, which we believe are the critical ingredient in the success of these ventures. We also hope to hear reports on the progress of those systems that have been launched and have started service, along with the latest in the areas of architectures, protocols, and components for both flight and ground applications. Lastly, we are happy to report that the ACTS satellite, which was due to be retired last year, will remain operational and continue to provide a test-bed for further experimentation. The satellite has been parked at 105.2 degrees West longitude and will be operated in an inclined orbit by a consortium of universities, government agencies and industrial users. As in past years, the Conference will cover activities in Ka Band and higher frequencies in the following areas: - New and Updated Systems Again this year the ITALSAT Propagation Experimenters (CEPIT Group) will hold their annual meeting during the Conference. The CEPIT has been active for more than ten years and coordinates 40 and 50 GHz propagation activities related to the ITALSAT F1 satellite, in orbit since 1991. The CEPIT IX Meeting, chaired by Apolonia Pawlina, is open to all people interested in satellite propagation experiments. Refer to the CEPIT website for more information. |
